Having curly hair requires you to have a different management and hair treatment than those with straight hair. People who have curly hair have a difficult time styling their hair or keeping the locks from becoming frizzy. That is why if you have curls whether they are loose waves, kinky or spiral the key is to find the best products that will suit your specific hair type. Products which are specially formulated for your type of hair will enhance your locks and the proper tips for healthy hair should be exercised. That way you can appreciate your curls more and enjoy your look. Here are some of the tips that you can do in managing your curly hair:
Tip # 1 – Go to the hair salon and have a fabulous haircut.
Having curly hair does not prevent you from having the ideal length you want. Whether it is a short length cut or long hairstyle it can be done. It is important to go to a trustworthy stylist who knows how to cut or style curly hair. Ask around or check a salon that has a stylist with an expertise in dealing with curly hair. It is okay to spend a few bucks for a hair cut because a fabulous cut does have an effect with your overall looks. Proper layering and shape will also enhance your facial features.
Tip #2 – Use organic shampoo and organic conditioner.
The best curly hair products are organic. Organic shampoo does not contain sulfate surfactants which are chemicals that make your hair dry out and scalp to lose its natural oils. Traditional shampoos contain alcohol which likewise makes your hair dry and remove its natural moisture. Traditional conditioners sometimes contain silicone which makes the hair limp and dull. Organic healthy hair products contain essential oils that are very gentle to the hair and skin. Among these natural oils are tea tree oil, coconut oil, olive oil, and argan oil among others. Since curly hair is susceptible to looking dry, you need to choose ingredients with natural moisturizers.
Tip #3 – Wash your hair every other day.
The frequency of shampooing and conditioning the hair depends on the type of your hair. For those who have curls it is alright to shampoo and condition every other day because curls have a tendency of becoming too fluffy if you wash it frequently. You can also alternate the days on which you shampoo and condition your hair if you cannot go a day without washing it. You only need a small amount of organic shampoo and organic conditioner when you wash your hair. Place it in your palm and then rub both palms together so that it can easily be distributed.
Tip #4 – Consider using hair mousse.
Instead of using gel which might contain alcohol which is bad for the hair, use certified organic hair products. Organic hair mousse can give you the extra hold that your curls need. After washing your hair, squeeze out the excess water by using paper towel, soft cloth or your own hands. Bath towels can make your hair frizz. Then run down your fingers with the mousse into your hair. Your hair length will determine how much amount of mousse you need.
Tip #5 – Use a diffuser when you blow dry your hair.
Curly hair can be managed by blow drying your hair. Air drying your hair can give it a fluffy look. After applying hair mousse you then proceed to dry your hair. Use a diffuser with your blow dryer and dry your hair one section at a time. Do this until your hair is almost dry. Do not over dry your hair with the diffuser as it might cause your hair to be frizzy. Remember never to use a brush when you need to detangle your hair. A wide toothed comb should be used on those locks.
